Rogue Lab Artwork Guidelines

To deliver the best possible results, every project at Rogue Lab starts with properly prepared artwork. This guide outlines the requirements for artwork across our services. Screen printing, embroidery, heat-applied products, stickers, and laser engraving. Following these guidelines ensures faster turnaround, fewer delays, and the premium quality standard that Rogue Lab is known for.

File Types

We require production-ready files for all jobs.

Acceptable formats:

  • Vector: AI, EPS, PDF (with fonts outlined/expanded)
  • High-resolution raster: PSD, TIFF, or PNG with transparent background at 300 DPI

Unacceptable formats:

  • JPGs, screenshots, or images pulled from the web
  • Files with missing fonts or linked images
  • Low-resolution or pixelated images

If your artwork does not meet these requirements, our team can rebuild or adjust it for an additional design fee.

Resolution and Sizing

Artwork must be submitted at 300 DPI at final print size. Scaling up low-resolution images will not improve quality.

Minimum line thickness and text sizes differ by decoration method:

Screen Printing

  • Line thickness: 0.3 mm / 0.012” (≈0.25 pt)
  • Text size: 10 pt (≈0.14”)
  • Note: Fine halftones must be 65 LPI+ at 45°

Embroidery

  • Line thickness: 1 mm / 0.04” (≈2.8 pt)
  • Text size: 4 mm / 0.16” tall

Heat-Applied / DTF

  • Line thickness: 0.25 mm / 0.01” (≈0.2 pt)
  • Text size: 6 pt (≈0.08”)

Stickers

  • Line thickness: 0.25 mm / 0.01” (≈0.2 pt)
  • Text size: 6 pt (≈0.08”)
  • Note: Include 1/8” bleed; keep text/logos 1/8” inside cut line

Laser Engraving

  • Line thickness: 0.2 mm / 0.008” (≈0.15 pt)
  • Text size: 6 pt (≈0.08”)
  • Note: Vector art engraves best; avoid photographic detail

Colors

  • Screen Printing: Provide Pantone Solid Coated references if exact color matching is required. Otherwise, we will match colors according to our standards.
  • Heat-Applied and Stickers: Files must be in CMYK. RGB artwork will be converted and may not match exactly.
  • Embroidery: Provide Isocord or Madeira thread color codes if exact matching is required. Otherwise, we will thread match to your colors according to our standard.
  • Laser Engraving: Black-and-white vector art works best; shades of gray will engrave as different depths.

Please note: colors will vary between digital screens and finished products. Pantone-matched references are the most reliable way to control output.

Fonts and Text

  • All fonts must be outlined or expanded before submitting.
  • Editable text or missing fonts may delay production.
  • For embroidery, avoid thin serif fonts or script under 4 mm tall.

Quality Standards

Artwork that does not meet these guidelines may result in delays. If files cannot be used as provided, we will request corrected artwork or offer our graphic design services to rebuild them for production.

Submitting files that meet these guidelines ensures your project moves into production quickly and finishes at the premium quality standard Rogue Lab is known for.
